Sven Casteleyn

Sven Casteleyn obtained his Phd in Science (2005, highest honors), and master degree (1999, high honors), in Computer Science from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. He worked 6 years as a research & teaching assistant, and 5 years as a post-doctoral researcher at the VUB. Next, he held a European Marie Curie IEF fellowship (Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, 2010-2012), and was a professor from November 2012 until October 2013 at the VUB, Belgium. From October 2013 he held several post-doc positions at Universitat Jaume I (UJI), Castellon, including a 5-year Ramón y Cajal grant from the Spanish Government. Since 2021, he is an associate professor at UJI.

His research interests lie within the fields of Web and Mobile Computing, Geographical Information Science and Technologies, and application fields thereof (particularly Mental Health). Sven published two books, two book chapters, and 100+ articles in international journals, conferences and workshops, including all top venues in the field. He has an h-index of 29, and his combined work is cited over 2950 times (December 2022; source Google Scholar). Since 2011, his scientific work was awarded with 3 best paper awards and 2 best demo awards in international conferences. Sven has been principal investigator in 2 national, 1 local and 1 technology transfer project. He is director of 11 phd students (7 finished).

Sven also taught over 3000 (classroom) hours of computer science courses at bachelor and master level.
