
Joaquín Huerta
Joaquín Huerta is a full professor in the Department of Languages and Computer Systems at the Universidad Jaume I (UJI), where he teaches Internet technology and Geographic Information Systems. He holds a Diploma and Degree in Computer Science and a Master’s in Computer Aided Design from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and a PhD in Computer Engineering from the UJI. He is co-director of the Master’s in Geospatial Technologies funded by the Erasmus Mundus program and Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Geospatial Information Integration and the Marie Curie European Joint Doctorate GEO-C: Enabling open cities. He directs the GEOTEC Research Group. He is a principal investigator of EU projects such as GEO-C (H2020), ERMES and EUROGEOSS (7PM), CityBench (ESPON) and eSDI-NET + (6PM) and Spanish projects such as “Virtual Spain”, Geocloud or Smart Ways. Its main activities are research in Internet technologies, Web 2.0, contextual systems, sensor networks and smart cities / campuses. In addition to academic activities, Dr. Huerta is a founding member of several companies such as a spin-off of the UJI and an Internet service provider and, therefore, has extensive business experience as well as experience in systems integration.
