The directors of the Cuatroochenta Chair of Artificial Intelligence, Health and Well-being of the Jaume I University of Castellón, Óscar Belmonte of the Department of Languages and Computer Systems and Antonio Caballer of the Department of Evolutionary, Educational, Social Psychology and Methodology, have participated in a table debate at the seminar “Unwanted loneliness in the digital age” organized by the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation and the Mémora Foundation.
The evaluation of unwanted loneliness is one of the main lines of research of the Cuatroochenta Chair. During their speech, the researchers presented SERENA, a conversational assistant for the evaluation of unwanted loneliness, as well as their project for the evaluation of physical, cognitive and social frailty. The table also had the participation of Carme Torres, researcher at the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Computing (CSIC-UPC), and Carme Pratdepàdua, head of the Office mhealth.cat | ICT HEALTH.
The Víctor Grífols and Lucas y Mémora foundations began their collaboration in 2019 within the Mémora Foundation’s “Cities that care” project, whose main objective is focused on preventing the death of people in situations of vulnerability and unwanted loneliness. This transversal project has the purpose of involving society so that it actively participates in the end-of-life process and is committed to a comprehensive care model that covers the health, social and community needs of the person.
In the same line of research, the two heads of the UJI’s Cuatroochenta Chair have also recently joined the Silver Economy & Gerontotechnology working group of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology. One of the first actions of this group has been to launch a survey with the aim of analyzing the knowledge and skills on the silver economy and gerontotechnology of the members of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, but also of the population in general .
